THE Best Makeup Brush EVER

One of the unintended consequences of becoming a mineral makeup user, is that you also gain an entire new knowledge of makeup brushes. The brushes are so important! If you are unhappy with your mineral makeup, it may just as easily be the brush as the makeup itself. I never intended to become a makeup brush “junkie”, it just happened. I have recently discovered the best makeup brush ever made.
I don’t know how I missed this one for so long, but a few months ago I picked up Bare Escentuals’ Full Flawless Face Brush on eBay. I was blown away by it! It is a HUGE brush, very full and fluffy. It has a long handle and gives the most incredible light even coverage. I use it for everything except foundation and blush. It is ideal for mineral veil and any all over face color. I also use it for a non-mineral bronzer. It has not shed one bit and it is the brush that I always wanted!
I think I missed it because the name is so similar to Bare Escentual’s flawless face brush - the standard issue brush that comes with all of the started kits. There is no comparison. This wonderful brush is so much bigger and softer. It would be great for any powder - or anything that you just want a light even layer. I have never considered “hoarding” brushes before, but I am seriously considering adding a few of these to my “stash” - just in case.
I realized after I discovered it that this brush has been in some kits and there are quite a few listed on eBay with different colored handles. If you aren’t happy with the coverage & finish from your mineral veil and all over face colors, I would heartily recommend giving one of these beauties a try.

Just when you think it can’t get any better - we get Tinted Feather Light Mineral Veil! I started out years ago with Mineral Veil and loved, loved, loved it! Then came Tinted Mineral Veil - wow! loved it even more! Then years later, we got Feather Light Mineral Veil - I was resistant to try it - how dare they mess with Mineral Veil? Guess what, I loved it more! (I now have the “Big Daddy” size and use it everyday.). It is especially wonderful in the warmer months when you want everything to be lighter. And now Leslie B and the lovely ladies at Bare Escentuals have done it again with the new Tinted Feather Light Mineral Veil! Bare Escentuals to have QVC’s Today’s Special Value (TSV) on April 25, 2008

QVC has announced that there will be a Bare Escentuals TSV on 4/25/2008 - no word yet on what it will be - but for the last two years the April TSV has been a “Faux Tan” kit, with the Faux Tanning Product (which is very highly rated by users) and the Faux Tan All Over Face Color (which I love!).

Bare Escentuals has recently expanded their Rare Minerals line by introducing two new Rare Minerals skin care products.
Bare Escentuals Rare Minerals Blemish Therapy is a sulfur based concentrated Rare Minerals treatment for acne and blemishes. It can be used as a spot treatment for existing blemishes or all over to prevent breakouts. Along with the sulfur, it also has tea tree oil, aloe and retinol, along with a 100% pure blend of Rare Minerals. It has a slight translucent tint to help conceal blemishes and even out the skin tone. It can be used alone, over your moisturizer or Rare Minerals our under your mineral makeup. Bare Escentuals Rare Minerals Renew & Reveal Facial Cleanser is a dry mineral-based cleanser. It is activated by water and is intended to cleanse, exfoliate and nourish the skin. It contains botanicals and antioxidants. It does not contain any soap, artificial fragrance or irritating ingredients. To use it, you put a half-teaspoon in wet hands and rub them together to “activate” the product and create a lather/foam.While is is definitely different than your typical cleanser, it will appeal to people looking for paraben free and all natural products as well as those who have already seen positive changes in their skin after using mineral makeup.

While I do not use it everyday, I am a HUGE fan of Urban Decay’s Eyelid Primer Potion. It is an awesome product and it does and incredible job of keeping your eye makeup in place until you take it off. When I saw that Bare Escentual’s has a new eyelid / eye makeup primer I wondered how is it different from the Urban Decay product and how could it possibly be any better?
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
comes in an adorable Genie bottle in a wonderful purple color - it is too cute for words! The draw back is that at least half of the product gets trapped in the container & you have to pry off the end to have access to all of the product.
It is $16 for 10 ml or 0.34 ounce.
The ingredients are: Isododecane, Talc, Cyclopentasiloxane, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Trihydroxystearin, Triethylhexanoin, Isopropyl Lanolate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Dimethicone, PEG-40 Stearate, Propylene Carbonate, Phenoxyethanol, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Methicone, Isobutylparaben
May Contain: Mica, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 77163 (Bismuth Oxychloride)
Bare Escentuals bareVitamins Prime Time Eyelid Primer doesn’t have the cuteness - but it does look very functional - with it’s felt tip pen type design.
It is $16 for 15 ml or 0.5 ounce.
The ingredients are: Isododecane, Barium Sulfate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Glyceryl Triethylhexanoate, Polyethylene, Trihydroxystearin, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Propylene Carbonate, Dimethicone, Beeswax (Cera Alba), PEG-40 Stearate, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Iron Oxides (CI 77492), Iron Oxides (CI 77499), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163).
As you can see from the ingredients in bold, the two formulas seem to be very similar. The Bare Escentuals version has added vitamins, but I am unsure if they would benefit the eyelid in any way. The Bare Escentuals version is also less expensive - provided you can get all of the product out of the container. Urban Decay Primer Potion costs the equivalent of $47 per ounce and Bare Escentuals Eyelid Primer is the equivalent of $32 per ounce. (It seems like you don’t get very much product - but you use such a tiny amount it lasts a really long time.)
It looks to me like it would be a smart thing to do to try out the Bare Escentuals Primer when I run out of Urban Decay Primer Potions, but I sure am going to miss my little Genie Bottle!!

I have been hoarding my Feather Light Mineral Veil, so I was thrilled to see that QVC has the Deluxe (”Big Daddy”) size in stock for this weekend’s shows. This is a tremendous value - if you are a Mineral Veil user I heartily recommend picking up the deluxe size when you can. They are extremely affordable and last for a really long time (one will last me over a year with 5 to 7 times per week use).
The item number for the Deluxe size Feather Light Mineral Veil is A11702 - It is $27.28 for 0.82 oz., compared to the regular size which is $19 for 0.3 oz. (the item number to the regular size is A722226). It is also available on Auto Delivery - item number A81957.
