Bare Escentuals has had no mercy with the holiday kits and special editions this year!  Seems like every time you turn around there are more goodies coming at you.

I have Strike it Rich – here are my swatches. I am really enjoying this kit. I love the primer shadows and these are all nice colors. Sandalwood is my favorite – it is a really nice gold. (It is pictured on the bottom here.)  I have been looking for the perfect gold eye shadow for a while and this is it.  The swatches from top to bottom are GunMetal – Sundance – Bronzed Twig – Gold Nugget – Sandalwood.

The tubes are really small – but you use such a small amount, I am hoping it will last a long time.

Here are my swatches. These are the smaller size eye shadow pots – but it is nice to get a kit with the eye primer included and the colors are really nice. I really like the graphite color. The liner shadow is nice too – it seems there hasn’t been much attention to them lately. I mix the liner shadow with a tiny bit of the eye primer and get smooth, flawless, long lasting eye liner.

Here are my swatches.  These are nice kits – would make a nice gift.  I have both of these and am enjoying them.  I think of the two, the bronzed twig is my favorite.  It is one of the darker of the primer eye shadows and I do like the lighter shades better, I love the metallic gold eye color with this one.

Bare Luxury is the Bare Escentuals TSV for November 18, 2011 - here is my review and a few pictures and swatches.

First off, I really like this kit.  This holiday season is a little overwhelming so far – with so many tempting choices.  Plus with the recent release of the Bare Escentuals Ready pressed eyeshadows – there are just too many goodies to choose from when we all want one of everything and two of some.

At $49.98, this kit is a great value.  It includes a new Ready 2.0 eyeshadow duo, two waterproof eyeliners, two Moxie lipglosses, a new all-over face color, two brushes and a makeup bag.

As far as overall impressions go, this is one of the most visually impressive kits to date.  Going along perfectly with the luxury theme, the sparkly gold makeup bag, gold handled brushes and shiny gold product lids, the presentation is very upscale and beautiful.  This would make a great holiday gift for any lady who loves makeup.   I read that Bare Escentuals is releasing the pressed cosmetics to expand their reach to people who aren’t interested in loose minerals – you know, to go more mainstream.  This collection is a wonderful example of their new strategy – it is for everyone – not just for those of us who happen to love any kind of mineral makeup.

The Ready Eyeshadow Duo (in the beautiful gold case) includes the colors Golden Iris and Azure Iris.  The Golden Iris is a lighter shade of lavender and the Azure Iris is being called an amber shade.  These are both universal eye colors that will work beautifully with any eyecolor and skin tone, especially the Azure Iris color – both shades are sparkly.  I really love the brownish one – I was really unsure what it would be based on the picture and description from QVC.  I would call it a light bronze – it is really pretty.  Both shadows can be worn alone or you could use them as the first color and use darker shades for the crease.  The ready eyeshadows are said to have anti-aging, skin care properties because they include a SeaNutritive Complex, antioxidants, cold-pressed borage oil, caffeine and cucumber.  Time will tell on that, I suppose, but they do go on smooth and stay all day without creasing – with or without primer.

The colors of the round the clock eyeliners are dark mocha (named 10PM) and navy blue (called Noon), they are waterproof and are the type of pencils that must be sharpened.  While these are not my favorite eyeliners, I like them and will use them.

The new all-over face color is called Gold Radiance.  It is a really pretty rose pink color.  It is nice as an all-over color – although it really is pink.  I like it better as a blush – you just have to apply several layers.

The lipglosses are called Marvelous Moxie – I think this is new – I am wondering if this is a spin off from the Buxom lip gloss line?  The two colors are called Wild One (described as a peach sheen) and Daredevil (described as a berry sorbet).   The peach one is very sheer – on me I could only see gloss, not really any color, but it is very glossy.  I will probably wear this over a lipstick rather than by itself.  I love the berry one.  It is beautiful and really unlike anything else that I have.

The two brushes have gold handles and are very nice.  I love the shadow brush for the pressed eye shadows – it will be my standard brush for Ready eye shadows.  It is perfect for them and the gold is so pretty.  The other brush is the standard issue flawless face brush, but the gold handle makes it a nice addition.

Finally the bag.  I love the bag – it holds the contents of the kit perfectly with room to spare.  It is a great size and it has a very nice magnetic closure, which I love – so nice not to have to mess with zippers or snap closures.  Best of all it is really sparkly – it looks like it has been dipped in gold glitter.

Today’s Special Value from QVC.com! 

Pur Minerals has recently announced a new forumation for their wildy popular 4-in-1 pressed mineral foundation.  The new formula contains skin care additives – including a nonirritating retinol and ceramides.  Purminerals says these ingredients were selected “to smooth away the look of lines, combat visible discoloration and encourage a brighter, even-toned complexion.”

In their press release, they site an eight week clinical study where the subjects reported an 89% increase in brilliance in four weeks and a 95% experienced a softer, smoother texture.  75% reported less skin irritation than they had before within six weeks and 88% reported less facial shine.  At the conclusion of the study, 95% of the users felt their skin had a firmer feel and finish with less visible pores and 89% saw overall improvement in their skin tone.

In addition to an updated formula, the updated 4-in-1 also received an updated compact.  The new one is Lucite with a silver embossed finish.  It is available in 10 shades with a price tag of $27 – that is only a $1 increase over the original 4-in-1 (which is available).

I don’t know about you, but I am thrilled about this new trend of adding skin care ingredients to makeup.  After years of having makeup cause me to break out (before I discovered mineral makeup), it is nice to know that the new formulas may actually help my skin.  At least they are trying!

The new formula does not have an SPF number, the original has an SPF 15. With the retinol, you need sun protection, but mineral makeup has a natural, built in SPF provided by the Titanium Dioxide. In order to state an SPF claim, it has to be tested by an FDA approved lab and I assume that Pur Minerals is undergoing the testing and will add the SPF at a later date, once it has been approved.

Here are the ingredients for the new formula:

Bare Escentuals has a brand new Face Fashion kit called Pretty Wild.  I recently received it and the name is right – it is pretty and is pretty wild.

It is a 5 piece makeup set with a really great price tag of $31.50.  I feel it is a very good value and you get a lot of Bare Minerals makeup for your money.

The kit includes:
Floret Blush (pink bloom shimmer)
Flawless Definition Mascara in Blue black
Vivacious Pretty Amazing Lipcolor(wild rose)
Violetta Eyecolor (faded lilac)
Greenhouse Eyecolor (earthy green)

These are small sizes of everything – the blush is in a regular eye color size container and the eye colors are smaller.  The lip color and mascara are also smaller than regular, full size.  I have absolutely no problem with that – in fact, I wish there were more kits available in smaller sizes.

The box is really pretty and very well done.  THere is an inside flap that you see when you open it and then you flip that page to reveal the contents of the kit.


The plastic insert lifts out, leaving you a pretty makeup storage box.


Bare Escentuals says that these are the hottest makeup trends and colors right now.  They are right on trend as far as I am concerned.  The eye colors are not ones that I would ordinarily select for myself, which is what makes it so much fun.  It is really nice to take a break from the “same old, same old”.
Here are the products applied to my inner arm.  The first item is the blue/black mascara.  On my arm, it looks very blue.  On my eyelashes it looks mostly black, but I quite like the color.



I’m not too sure about the Violetta Eyecolor for me.  It is really light – lighter than I normally wear – but I love anything in the purple family, so I’m willing to give it a go.  I’ll be playing around with this one to see what I can do with it.

The Greenhouse Eyecolor was the biggest surprise to me.  I don’t think I own a green eye color and it is possible that I have never owned one.  But I love it, I mean I really love it and looks great with my brown eyes.  In the picture, the top swatch is of it dry, the second is mixed with Prime Time Eye Primer and used as an eyeliner.  I think I like it as an eyeliner even better than an eye shadow – but I love it both ways.

The Floret Blush is gorgeous – a beautiful clear pink and it could be possible that I already have enough pink blushes, but never mind – it is really nice and I know I will wear it.  Plus with the smaller size, it will be wonderful for travel.

The lip color looks darker on my arm than it does on my lips.  It is really a great mauve-y almost neutral color that could be worn all the time.  I like it much better than the other Amazing Lipcolors I have tried.

All in all, I think this is a great value for the money and a very pretty look.  I have medium skin with cool undertones.  I do think these colors would be better on cool or neutral skin tones than on warms.  I also think it would be absolutely amazing on anyone with blue or hazel eyes and cool undertones.
